The present invention provides a display device capable of easily transmitting data to an external device by facilitating connection to the external device through a first communication method and a second communication method, and a control method thereof. The display device of the present invention includes: a first communication unit which is connected to an external device through a first communication method; a second communication unit which is connected to the external device through a second communication method different from the first communication method; and a control unit which controls the first communication unit to be connected to the external device through the first communication method, transmits to and receives from the external device through the first communication method connection information for connection through the second communication method, controls the second communication unit to be connected to the external device through the second communication method based on the connection information for the second communication method, and controls at least one of the first communication unit and the second communication unit to transmit data to the external device. By doing so, the present invention provides a display device capable of facilitating connection and communication for data transmission with an external device and a control method thereof.
