PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image management server and an image management method capable of preventing reduction of throughput of reference image data.SOLUTION: The image management server includes: a request reception part that receives a request for storing a picked-up image; an imaging information storage section that stores a piece of imaging information on a first picked-up image for which the storing request has been received; a target storage determination section that, when the file capacity of a second picked-up image which is associated with a piece of imaging information of the first picked-up image is larger than a threshold value allotted to the file capacity, determines an image data storage section which is different from the image data storage section in which the second picked-up image is stored as the storage for the first picked-up image; and a data transmission/reception section that receives the first picked-up image for which the storing request has been received and transmits the first picked-up image to the determined image data storage section.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
