The present invention provides a technology capable of smoothly reducing noise included in a WDR synthesis image. In addition, the present invention provides a technology capable of switching on and off of WDR synthesis processing in a temporally smooth way according to change in lighting environment of a subject. An apparatus for processing images (1A) comprises: a threshold control unit (30) for controlling a threshold based on a signal amplification degree of a sensor (10); a used-image selection unit (40) for generating used-image selection information by selecting any one of a short-exposure image and a long-exposure image, which are detected by the sensor (10), for each pixel based on relation between pixel values of the long-exposure image or the short-exposure image and the threshold; and a WDR synthesis unit (60) for synthesizing the short-exposure image with the long-exposure image based on the used-image selection information, and obtaining a synthesized image. |
