PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a method of refining, by sublimation, a host material which can offer an organic electroluminescent element with better endurance with less halogen impurity and a high yield; a host material resulting from the refining by the refining method by sublimation; an organic electroluminescent element arranged by use of the host material; a light-emitting device arranged by use of the organic electroluminescent element; a display device; and a luminaire.SOLUTION: A method of refining, by sublimation, a host material for forming a light-emitting layer of an organic electroluminescent element comprises: the step of mixing the host material including impurities including at least one halogen element selected from a group consisting of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine with an alkali inorganic absorbing material selected from a group consisting of an oxide of a Group II element and a carbonate of a Group II element, and a non-alkali inorganic absorbing material, thereby sublimating and refining the host material.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
