829,796. Filters. AIR-MAZE CORPORATION. Oct. 21, 1957, No. 32758/57. Class 46. Unfiltered liquid introduced at 11, Fig. 2, is constrained by a vertical nozzle 11b, Fig. 1, to form a jet which maintains clean the surfaces of most of a plurality of filter leaves 23, Fig. 2, clamped on a perforated tube 17 which is mounted eccentrically in a housing 10 so as to leave a quiescent zone 29, Fig. 1, down which solids may fall into a sump 10b. Preferably one or more vertical baffle ribs 30, extending inwardly from the housing wall, are provided in the zone 29. Preferably also a perforate partition 38, through which the dirt can pass, is provided over the sump 10b to prevent turbulence therein. Each filter leaf consists of an annular disc 24 having radial tapered ribs 25 on each side and a coarse and a fine annular wire screen on each face. The inner edges of the screen annuli are bound with rings 28 and the outer edges located in pockets 24b in the outer rim 24a of the disc, which pockets are pressed down against the screens. The fine screens may be of the material described in Specification 591,468. The preferred range of nozzle velocities is from 600 to 900 ft./min.
|
