PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sizing agent removal device and a sizing agent removal method capable of further suppressing a damage to a carbon fiber with an extremely simple configuration.SOLUTION: The device for removing a sizing agent from a carbon fiber body 30 having the sizing agent applied thereon includes: a chamber 1 communicated with the outside air; conveyance mechanisms 2 to 7 for continuously feeding the carbon fiber body 30 into the chamber 1 and out from the chamber 1 at a constant speed; an infrared heater 8 for irradiating a surface of the carbon fiber body 30 fed into the chamber 1 to heat; and a blower 9 for exhausting thermal decomposition gas generated from the carbon fiber body 30, by heating with the infrared heater 8, to the outside of the chamber 1. The device decomposes the sizing agent into thermal decomposition gas to remove it from the carbon fiber body 30. |
