PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor which allows the reduction of backlash of a detection element and a connection terminal by making clearances appropriate when inserting the detection element and the connection terminal to an element insertion hole and a terminal insertion hole of a ceramic member to arrange them while preventing cracks occurring at corner parts of the ceramic member.SOLUTION: The gas sensor includes a tabular detection element extending in an axial direction and a ceramic member provided with an element insertion hole to which the detection element is inserted. When the ceramic member is viewed in the axial direction, the element insertion hole includes a substantially rectangular main insertion hole 83 surrounded with four sides and a relief hole 85 which is surrounded with a visible outline connecting ends of two adjacent sides out of four sides of the main insertion hole 83 and is provided on the outside in a radial direction of the main insertion hole 83 so as to communicate with the main insertion hole 83, and further, one of two sides of the main insertion hole 83 connected to the visible outline of the relief hole 85 reaches an intersection K1 which crosses an extension of the other. |
