Hybrid fan blade and method for their manufacture

A metallic enveloping structure (2) has a convex suction-side sheet metal cover (4) and a concave pressure-side sheet metal cover (5). The metallic enveloping structure is confined to an airfoil area. The convex suction-side sheet metal cover is in pre-stressed elastic tension such that the concave pressure-side sheet metal cover is subjected to elastic compressive stress and both sheet metal covers elastically press against a fiber composite supporting structure (1). An independent claim is included for a hybrid fan blade manufacturing method.
