An apparatus 2 for receiving parcels 4 comprises a container 6 with body 8 and lid 10 and a first length of secure material 12, such as a steel cable. A first end of the end of the cable is secured to the inside of the container. A second end of the cable is secured to the inside of a door 22. A padlock or combination lock 26 is provided to seal the container when a parcel is delivered. A second length of secure material 28, such as a chain, is attached at one end to the lock and is secured to the cable at the other end. A plastic handle may be located in a recess of the container lid. The container may be fabricated from a metal, may be a cooler such as an ice box or may comprise a battery-powered refrigerator that may have a timer. In use, the apparatus allows a parcel to be delivered and stored securely without the need for a person to wait in for the delivery. |
