PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a configuration for appropriately controlling an operation state of an I/Q modulator provided in an optical transmitter and a method of the same.SOLUTION: An optical transmitter includes: a mapper for generating a field information signal from transmission data; a phase rotation circuit for providing the field information signal with a phase rotation; a driver for generating a driving signal from the field information signal; a modulator for generating an optical modulation signal on the basis of the driving signal; and a controller for controlling a bias of the modulator on the basis of a change of a carrier frequency of an optical modulation signal with respect to a phase rotation provided to the field information signal from the phase rotation circuit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
