Provided is an agent for treating circulation water in a wet painting booth, the agent, in a small addition amount, being capable of exhibiting sufficient nonsticky and coagulation effects without being affected by the types of paints or curing agents and equipment conditions for solvent-based paints, and exhibiting excellent foam-suppressing effects for water-based paints. The agent for treating circulation water in a wet painting booth includes, as an active ingredient, a phenol resin having a weight-average molecular weight of more than 3,000 and less than or equal to 10,000. Also, provided is a method for treating circulation water in a wet painting booth, in which said agent for treating circulation water in a wet painting booth is added to water-based paint-containing and/or solvent-based paint-containing circulation water in a wet painting booth to treat the circulation water through coagulation. |
