The present invention presents a device (1) and a method for separating and classifying a stream of material (7), as typically occurs in waste management. The device (1) consists substantially of two flow units (6, 6'), which produce a common gas flow (4), which passes at least once through a separating element (2), such as for example a screen, on which the stream of material (7) lies. The two flow units (6, 6') are spaced apart variably by a predetermined interspace (9), and so the material falling down falls through between the flow units (6 6') and is fed to a transporting means (23''). The combination of different methods for screening and classifying in one unit has the effect of significantly improving the throughput and the selectivity of the screening or classifying installations (25, 25'), and also accomplishes a degree of output and purity of the lightweight product or two-dimensional material not before achieved. |
