This display device is provided with: a liquid crystal panel (2020) that forms a display surface (2020a) on which an image is displayed; a backlight (2030) that irradiates the liquid crystal panel with light from the rear surface side; real objects (2040, 2400, 2420, 2430, 2440, 2450), which are disposed between the liquid crystal panel and the backlight, and which are viewed through the liquid crystal panel; and a control device (2600) that controls the liquid crystal panel such that, in specific pixel regions (G2010, G2100, G2300, G2050, G2060, G2070, G2071), i.e., pixel regions of display surface parts where the real objects are positioned on the rear surface side, light transmittance is higher than that in other pixel regions (G2020, G2400). Consequently, the whole display surface of the liquid crystal panel can be effectively used, while imparting depth feeling by combining the real objects with the liquid crystal panel. |
