An introducer assembly for introducing an orthopedic implant into a subject comprising: an introducer and the implant, wherein the implant comprises a biocomposite material; wherein the introducer initiates a cavity for the implant, wherein the assembly is inserted into the cavity to thereby extend the cavity, and wherein the introducer is retracted from the assembly leaving the implant in the cavity.
