REAL-TIME SHARING DURING A PHONE CALL

A real-time sharing component operating on a computing device such as a smartphone, tablet, or personal computer (PC) is configured to enable a local sharing party to share content with a remote party during a phone call. The real-time sharing component exposes tools, controls, and functions that enable the shared content to be a curated experience in which content available to the sharing party can be selected and shared with the remote party with voice narration while controlling the pacing of the sharing, maintaining privacy so that only intentionally shared content can be seen by the remote party but not other content, and controlling how and when shared content can be saved by the remote party, and enabling the shared content to be zoomed and panned and be highlighted with graphics and/or annotated with text.

1. One or more computer-readable memories storing instructions which, when executed by one or more processors disposed in a device, implement a method for real-time sharing of content between respective local and remote parties using local and remote devices during a phone call, comprising:
during the phone call, exposing a user interface (UI) for initiating the real-time sharing; enabling selection of content for sharing, the shareable content being locally available to the local device or available to the local device from a remote source; enabling pre-staging of content in which pre-staged content is separate from presently shared content so that the remote party is prevented from viewing the pre-staged content; enabling the local party to move content from pre-staging to presently shared content so that the local party can control pacing of presentation of instances of shared content items with the remote party; providing tools for highlighting portions of shared content for the remote party, the highlighting including graphics or text annotations.
