Provided is a stator for a rotary electric machine which has excellent insulation properties and is efficient to manufacture. Also provided is a rotary electric machine equipped with the stator. The stator (20) for a rotary electric machine has a stator core (132) having multiple slots (420) and stator coils (60) disposed in the slots with N (wherein N is a positive even number) segment conductors (28) being disposed in each slot, and the stator coils are configured by connecting the multiple segment conductors via welded parts provided at the conductor end parts of each segment conductor, with the conductor end parts being arranged annularly in the circumferential direction at one coil end in the axial direction so as to form an annular arrangement of N rows. The direction of stator core punching burrs (810) on the stator slot side and stator inner diameter side and the direction of stator core punching burrs (810) on the stator outer diameter side are opposite to each other.
