A TRANSGENIC TOBACCO EXPRESSING RECOMBINATION HCRNAV 34 VIRUS LIKE PARTICLE PROTEIN

HcRNAV 34 virus like particles specifically infect and kill H. circularisquama, an alga causing red tide. The present invention provides transgenic tobacco expressing a recombinant HcRNAV 34 virus like particle (VLP) protein. The discontinuance of mobility, a change in the shape, and destruction of cells are observed in only H. circularisqua-ma HU 9433-P and HA 92-1, hosts of HcRNAV 34, not in H. circularisquama HY 9423, HU 9436, and C. vulgaris, nonhosts of the HcRNAV 34, after treantment of total proteins extracted from the transgenic plant. In addition, based on the expression of GFP transfected with the HcRNAV 34 VLP observed by confocal microscopy, the change and destruction of the alga are considered to occur due to the introduction of the HcRNAV 34 VLP into the alga, and the antialgal activity was induced by only the HcRNAV 34 VLP. Therefore, the present invention is expected to be used as a novel method for biologically controlling the red tide if selecting virus specifically infecting harmful algae and mass producing a part of the virus by transfecting the same into a plant, and confirming the antialgal activity.
