A training and exercise device comprising a bar for weightlifting that is made to Olympic dimensions and made from aluminium to allow the user to practise weight lifting techniques without the weight associated with an Olympic bar. Preferably the weight lifting bar is used with resistance bands 3 that are attached to the bar to allow progression to slight weight increases, the bands are preferably situated where an Olympic bar has the weighted plates. The resistance bands 3 may be fixed in place via hook and loop fixings 1. The weight lifting bar may have markings that assist the user in placing their hands in the correct position when performing various types of lifts, including a central mark 2.
