A pipe connection 10, a collet release tool (70, Fig 4), and a method of releasing a pipe 21 from a pipe connection. The pipe connection 10 is for a quick-release pipe connector 14 that uses a collet 18 based pipe gripping and pipe release mechanism. The pipe connection 10 comprises a body portion 16 and a collet 18 for selectively gripping or releasing a pipe 21 within the body portion 16. The body portion comprising a recessed shoulder 20 adjacent to its free end against which a rim 22 of the collet 18 can selectively bear, the recessed shoulder 20 being surrounded by a surrounding wall 28 that extends to or closer towards the free end of the body portion 16; the rim 22 of the collet 18 being fully recessed within the confines of the surrounding wall 28. |
