<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a temperature of feed water from going high excessively within an economizer in a feed water preheating boiler which preheats feed water with an economizer. <P>SOLUTION: A feed water preheating boiler, which includes an economizer 4 which preheats feed water, a boiler body 6 which further heats the feed water preheated by the economizer 4 so as to generate steam, and a water level detector 5 which detects a water level in the boiler, performs water supply to the boiler intermittently through the economizer 4 based on the detected water level. The boiler is set in advance not only to execute water supply control based on the water level but also to start water supply when a water supply suspension time reaches a set time T. In this way, water supply also starts at the timing when the water supply suspension time reaches the set time T before the water level falls under its water supply start level.
