摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exert a control to reduce power consumption of a back light by a peak ACL control and also adaptively improving a luminous factor in response to a pattern of a video input signal in an image processing apparatus supplying a video output signal and a back light control signal to a display panel with a back light control unit connected thereto and receiving the input video input signal.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus comprises: a luminance modulation unit; a back light control gain adjustment unit; a peak value detection unit; and a histogram detection unit. The peak value detection unit determines a peak value that is a maximum luminance value of an input video input signal. The histogram detection unit determines a frequency distribution for luminance values of the video input signal. The luminance modulation unit converts the luminance value of the video input signal to a luminance value of a video output signal for each pixel on the basis of the peak value determined by the peak value detection unit and the frequency distribution determined by the histogram detection unit, and outputs the luminance value of the video output signal. The back light control gain adjustment unit generates a back light control signal on the basis of the peak value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
