PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for producing a degradation product of lignocellulose using thermostable xylanase that hydrolyses glycoside with superior heat stability, because it is known that when enzymatic saccharification of lignocellulose is carried out with high solid loading lignocellulose, hydrolytic reaction of lignocellulose is slow due to high viscosity of the biomass liquid to be saccharified, thus the enzymatic saccharification treatment at a high temperature using a thermostable enzyme can achieve increased hydrolytic reaction rate, reduced viscosity of the biomass liquid, reduced saccharification reaction time and reduced amount of the enzyme.SOLUTION: The invention provides a thermostable xylanase exhibiting xylanase activity under conditions of at least 90°C and pH6.0, wherein the xylanase is a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence of a specified sequence, a polypeptide in which one or several amino acids are deleted from, replaced in or added to the specified amino acid sequence, or a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence having 75% or more sequence identity to the amino acid sequence of the specified sequence.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
