PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow proper synchronization of mobile wireless devices connecting to a wireless access point.SOLUTION: A time signal from a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server 4 is transmitted through a WAN 6. An access point 12 receives the time signal and inputs it to a filter section 14. Filter sections 14 and 16 form a Kalman Filter. The filter section 16 determines the update equations state to the filter section 14. Thereby, the access point's internal frequency source 18 (e.g., a crystal oscillator) is synchronized with the time signals received through the Internet. A processor 22 may be used for the use to calibrate the internal frequency source 18 which clocks signals through a transceiver 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
