PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing ethanol from biomass containing lignocellulose, in which SS (suspended substance) generated in a process is removed, and ethanol is efficiently produced.SOLUTION: In a method of manufacturing ethanol from a lignocellulose-based raw material, the lignocellulose-based raw material is saccharified/fermented, and SS concentration of treatment liquid after the saccharifying fermentation is maintained at 0.1 to 10.0 mass%. The saccharifying fermentation is sequential saccharifying fermentation in which saccharification and fermentation are performed in different culture tanks, or concurrent saccharifying fermentation in which saccharification and fermentation are performed in the same culture tank. The method also includes a process of treating at least a part of treatment liquid after the saccharifying fermentation by an SS separator.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
