PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for providing CQI information in a Cell_FACH state.SOLUTION: A method implemented by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprises: operating in a CELL_PCH or URA_PCH state; decoding a high speed shared control channel (HS-SCCH) associated with a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) of the WTRU; performing measurement; in response to the decoding of HS-SCCH, transitioning from the CELL_PCH or URA_PCH state to the CELL_FACH state; and transmitting a measurement report associated with the measurement via a random access channel (RACH) to a Node-B.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
