To achieve an optical element wherein reflection light at an optical waveguide end can be suppressed irrespective of the width of an optical waveguide. An optical element (1) has an optical waveguide (7) and a terminator (1). The optical waveguide (7) is formed on a substrate (6). The terminator (1) is formed on the substrate (6) by being connected to one end of the optical waveguide (7), and has a curved optical waveguide having a curvature with which a bend loss is generated in input light inputted from the optical waveguide, and the input light is attenuated by being propagated in the curved optical waveguide. |
