摘要
888,457. Valves. JOHNSON & SON Inc., S. C. Nov. 22, 1960 [Dec. 28, 1959], No. 40080/60. Class 135. [Also in Group XXIII] A liquid-dispensing device comprises a fluid container 1 having an opening for filling the container, a hollow inner valve sleeve 12 at least partially open throughout its length and having a liquid inlet 14, an outer valve sleeve 15 in liquid-tight relationship and having a closed inner end 17, a dauber stem 16 extending from the closed end 17 through the sleeve 12, and a liquid-absorbing dauber 19, the sleeve 15 closing the inlet 14 when moved from one position to another by the external manipulation of the stem 16. As shown, the inner valve sleeve 12 is secured in fluid-tight relationship to the neck 2 of the container 1 and a cap 5 is similarly secured to the container 1 for transportation purposes. External manipulation of the stem 16 opens the inlet 14 and allows liquid to flow through the hollow inner sleeve 12 to the central opening 18 and liquid openings 13 formed by guide members 22. Protrusions 20 may be formed on either the inner surface of the outer sleeve or the outer surface of the inner sleeve to form the liquid-tight connection. Preferably the two valve sleeves are formed of plastic, the sleeve having the protrusions being formed of a harder plastic. The liquid inlet 14 may be a groove as shown, an aperture or a slot in the sleeve 12. An expandable porous washer, e.g. of cotton, wool, rubber, may be attached between the shoulder 26 and the outer sleeve 15 to filter any solid from the liquid. The valve once opened is preferably not closed again. Liquid flows to the dauber on inverting the container. The dauber may be of cotton, felt, wool, sponge rubber, or synthetic foam.
