In animal feed there is incorporated a stilboestrol or hexoestrol derivative having at least two straight chain alkyl (containing at least two carbon atoms), branched chain alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group substituents in the aromatic nuclei; it is stated that these compounds are substantially free from oestrogenic activity. An example is directed to the improvement in weight gain of lambs when their feed was supplemented by 3, 31- diallylstilboestrol and by 3, 31- diallylhexoestrol. Other derivatives of stilboestrol and hexoestrol are also mentioned. |
