摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress variation of maintenance performance of a plurality of nozzles while preventing waste discharge of liquid by reducing a difference between liquid discharge amounts from the plurality of nozzles regardless of distances of the plurality of nozzles from a liquid supply port. <P>SOLUTION: The plurality of nozzles of an ink jet head 3 are divided into two nozzle groups which are first and second nozzle groups positioned leaving a predetermined clearance in the carrying direction in accordance with a distance from an ink supply port. A suction cap 9 of a maintenance device 5 defines two closed spaces 55a, 55b corresponding to the two first and second nozzle groups together with an ink injection face during capping. The closed space corresponding to the first nozzle group having a longer distance from the ink supply port out of the two nozzle groups is sucked by suction force larger than that in the closed space corresponding to the second nozzle group, so that suction purge is performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
