A method is provided of data transmission between a first user terminal and a second user terminal in a cellular telecommunications network. The network comprises small cell base stations providing respective small cells. The method comprises: the network detecting a call set up request from the first user terminal in respect of the second terminal, the network determining that the first and second user terminals are in the same or neighbouring small cells, and the network instructing at least one of the first and second terminals to set up a direct device -to-device (D2D) connection between the first and second user terminals. |
