Purification of dialkyl carbonate compounds (II) in one or more columns in the presence of alkylene oxide compounds (V) and alkyl alcohol compounds (IV), where the average residence time of (II) in the column is 0.3-3 hours, is claimed. Purification of dialkyl carbonate compounds of formula (R2-O-C(=O)-O-R1) (II) in one or more columns in the presence of alkylene oxide compounds of the formula (V) and alkyl alcohol compounds of formula (R5-OH) (IV), where the average residence time of (II) in the column is 0.3-3 hours, is claimed.
