A printing apparatus which has a first power state and a second power state for saving more power than the first power state, comprises a detection part for detecting the ambient temperature of the printing apparatus, a maintenance part for maintaining background temperature data which indicates the ambient temperature of the printing apparatus, a control part which changes the second power state of the printing apparatus into the first power state, based on the temperature data detected by the detection part and the background temperature data maintained by the maintenance part, and an updating part for updating the background temperature data maintained by the maintenance part. |
