The present invention refers to the isolation and characterization of the trichocystatin 2 protein through the recombinant protein TC.2r, as a protein for inhibiting cysteine proteinase known as virulence factors in T. vaginalis. The invention also describes the use of the protein TC-2 in the treatment of the infection caused by this type of parasite and its use as a biological marker for the diagnosis of trichomonas obtained from the biological samples.
