The present invention relates to a device for cleaning a spray painting device and a method thereof. The device for cleaning a spray painting device comprises: a movable main body; a detergent storage unit installed in the main body; and a solid separating unit which separates a solid from detergent which cleans a pump, a suction hose, a painting hose, and a spray gun by using pressure generated by driving the pump of a spray painting device, thereby eliminating the solid included in the detergent to recycle the detergent. Therefore, the amount of detergent used in a cleaning work is reduced and the amount of a discharged volatile organic compound is reduced.
