COVER MECHANISM AND RELEASE MECHANISM FOR A BICYCLE PEDAL CLIP

The use of clip pedals and appropriate footwear has proved itself for cyclists, however, said use is avoided by many due to an immanent risk of injury. All of the currently existing clip release systems can only be released by using a release technology by means of specific foot movement. This is particularly problematic in stress situations. A safe and quick release of bicycle pedal clips to avoid falls, and to provide sufficient comfort when using bicycle clip pedals without appropriate footwear has been lacking up to now. The invention relates to a practicable solution thereto that allows the realization of an efficient seconday release mechanism. The release of the foot pedal clip is hereby illustrated by means of a hand-operated cable pull, or electronically. The basic principle is the use of a pre-tensioned spring, which releases the retaining bolt on the clip pedal. The invention further relates to the use of a cover plate for situations in which the clip system is not being used with appropriate footwear. The solution according to the invention can contribute significantly to an increased attractiveness of clip pedal systems.
