According to an embodiment of the present invention, an elimination method of soot that is accumulated in an EGR cooler may comprise the following steps of: detecting current cooling efficiency of an EGR cooler cooling exhaust gas recirculated from an exhaust side to an intake side of an engine; calculating a difference value between the current cooling efficiency of the EGR cooler and target cooling efficiency; adjusting pressure of an intake manifold and an exhaust manifold when the difference value is greater than a set value; controlling a pressure reverse phenomenon between an upstream side and a downstream side of the EGR cooler to be repeated by pressure change of the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold; and opening an EGR valve to control a flow rate of EGR gas passing the EGR cooler while the pressure reverse phenomenon is generated.
