A sheet conveying device (40A through 40G, 95) includes a holder (49), a friction member (48), a rotary conveyance member (47) forming a nip area (N2) between an outer circumferential surface thereof and the friction member (48), rotating while contacting the friction member (48), and separating and convey multiple sheet-like materials (P) one by one at the nip area (N2), and a pair of guides (50A through 50H) configured to lift an underside of each of the sheet-like materials (P) facing the friction member (48), the pair of guides (50A through 50H) disposed upstream from the nip area (N2) in a sheet conveying direction, outside both ends in an axial direction of the rotary conveyance member (47), separate from the nip area (N2) from the axial direction of the rotary conveyance member (47), and being substantially even with the outer circumferential surface of the rotary conveyance member (47). |
