<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for automatically separating a cancer cell that can quickly and accurately separate the cancer cell of extremely low concentration from other cells using a microfluid chip and noninvasively recover the cancer cell and the other cells. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for automatically separating the cancer cell automatically separates the cancer cell from a cell suspension fluid introduced into a microchannel and containing the cancer cell. The microchannel includes (a) a main channel, (b) a first inlet branch channel provided at the upper end of the main channel in the extended direction of the main channel and allowing the cell suspension fluid to be introduced therein, and (c) a second inlet branch channel provided at the upper end of the main channel at a predetermined angle to the main channel and allowing a fluid that does not contain cells and fine particles, to be introduced therein.
