The present invention relates to an apparatus for controlling departure of a torque assist automated manual transmission (AMT) and a method thereof. The apparatus reduces abrasion of a dry type main clutch by completing departure in a first gear via a wet type main clutch before a completion of a direct connection and after departing in the second gear via the wet type assist clutch when departure of a torque assist AMT having the dry type main clutch transmitting engine power to a transmission excluding a second gear and the wet type assist clutch transmitting engine power to the second gear.
