The present invention relates to an electronic device and, more particularly, to an electronic device which outputs a multimedia, and a method for controlling the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the electronic device comprises: a display unit including at least one of a letterbox area and an image display area; an interface unit for receiving a control signal from a remote controller; and a control unit for performing the control associated with the letterbox area and the image display area. The control unit displays a guide image in the boundary of the letterbox area and the image display area, moves the guide image based on the control signal, and changes the size of the letterbox area and the image display area by using the movement of the guide image. |
