The present invention relates to a remote meter reading system which comprises: one or more meter reading terminals for transmitting meter reading data; one or more repeaters for transmitting the meter reading data transmitted from the one or more meter reading terminals; and, a collector for performing wireless communication with the one or more repeaters. The one or more repeaters transmit an alarm signal for converting the one or more meter reading terminals in a sleep status into a driving status. The purpose of the present invention is to reduce the time of arrival of the meter reading data transmitted from the meter reading terminal which is operated by the alarm signal.
