A method and system for implementing taxi fare estimation in an online taxi hiring system. The system comprises a passenger client (1), an electronic map service system (2), and a server (3) providing a fare estimation function. The passenger client accesses the electronic map service system via an electronic map client and acquires road sections between the origin and destination of a taxi ride and the travel distances and traveling speeds on the road sections (S1001); a fare estimation request message is transmitted to a fare estimation server on the basis of the described data and of a selected car model (S1002); when the fare estimation request message is received by the server, same revises the traveling speed data of the road sections and respectively estimates a travel time for each road section (S1003); the server estimates a taxi fare on the basis of the car model, the estimated travel times, and the travel distances (S1004); and, the server returns a result of the calculation to the client (S1005). |
