摘要 [Problem] To provide a porous metal body manufacturing method by which strength can be increased and the flow rate of a fluid flowing in the axial and radial direction of the porous metal body can be equalized in the circumferential direction of the porous metal body, and to provide a porous metal body. [Solution] This porous metal body manufacturing method involves at least: a preparation step S10 for preparing an intermediary body from a tubular wire mesh; a star-shaped polygonal body forming step S20 for forming a star-shaped polygonal body by formation, in the circumferential direction of the intermediate body, alternately multiple protrusions protruding radially outwards and multiple recesses receding radially inwards; and a molding step S40 for inserting the star-shaped polygonal body into a mold that restricts the inner peripheral side and outer peripheral side of the star-shaped polygonal body and compresses the star-shaped polygonal body from one side in the axial direction of the star-shaped polygonal body. This porous metal body is manufactured with the aforementioned the porous metal body manufacturing method.
