PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cutting tool excellent in wear resistance.SOLUTION: The surface-coated cutting tool has a substrate and a coating film formed on the substrate. The coating film includes an inner layer and an outer layer. The inner layer is formed of a single layer, or multiple layers in which two or more layers are stacked, made of at least one kind of element selected from the group consisting of Group IVa elements, Group Va elements, Group VIa elements, in the periodic table, Al and Si, or, made of a compound comprising at least one kind of element selected from the abovementioned elements and at least one kind of element selected from the group consisting of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and boron. The outer layer includes mainly α-aluminum oxide, and the equivalent peak intensity PR(024) according to the x-ray diffraction from the (024) plane exceeds 1.3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
