This invention reduces delay between imaging and display. This imaging device is characterized by the provision of the following: an imaging unit that has a plurality of imaging elements that image subjects and output imaging signals; a display unit that has a plurality of display regions that correspond to the plurality of imaging elements; an image-signal generation unit that uses the imaging signal outputted by each imaging element to generate, for each line of that display region, a partial image signal representing an image to display in that line of that display region and outputs to the display unit, for each line thereof, an image signal that comprises a plurality of partial image signals and represents the image to display in that line; and a timing control unit that, if the line corresponding to an image signal that has finished being outputted to the display unit is a line in which an image is to be displayed prior to a line being displayed and the line in which an image is to be displayed last among lines corresponding to partial image signals generated by the image-signal generation unit is a line in which an image is to be displayed no earlier than the aforementioned line being displayed, controls the image-signal generation unit so as to output the image signal representing the image to be displayed in said line being displayed. |
