The invention provides a method for differentiating an adenoma using the 18-oxoF present in the peripheral blood of a primary aldosteronism patient. Moreover, the invention provides a method and compound for determination of the 18-oxoF and 18-OHF in a sample by LC-MS. In further detail, the invention provides a method whereby the 18-oxoF in a sample is, directly or after being converted to an alkoxy form, reacted with 18-OHF and a compound represented by formula (I) to obtain an ester derivative and the resulting ester derivative is determined, as well as the ester derivative in question.
