The invention relates to a novel adapter (1) which allows a smartphone (100) to be coupled to a direct ophthalmoscope (200) or to an otoscope (300) in order to record images or videos of the eye or the ear of a patient. The adapter (1) basically comprises three parts: a coupler (2) to which the smartphone (100) is attached, an intermediate connector (6) designed to allow transverse movements, and a fixing plate (7) to which the direct ophthalmoscope (200) or the otoscope (300) is coupled.
