<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection accuracy of an abnormal part in a roll paper. <P>SOLUTION: This liquid ejection device comprises: a conveying part delivering and conveying a roll paper including a recording substrate having one surface being an image recording layer and the other surface being a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and a release substrate covering the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer; a support part for supporting the delivered roll paper; a head ejecting liquid toward the roll paper supported by the support part to record an image; and an abnormal part detection sensor detecting an abnormal part in the roll paper. The abnormal part detection sensor includes a light projection part arranged at one edge side in the paper width direction of the roll paper and a light receiving part receiving the light projected from the light projection part at the other edge side in the paper width direction.
