The apparatus (1) has a heating device comprising a power oscillator to heat food in a cooking space (2), where a detection device and an evaluating device are provided to detect existence of metal in a sample provided in the cooking space. A control device is established to increase power of a power oscillator, where the detection device is established to detect variation in impedance of the power oscillator. The evaluating device determines the existence of metal based on the impedance variation, when metal is introduced into the cooking space with the sample. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a microwave apparatus. |
