The present invention relates to an image display device capable of performing conversion between a 2D mode and a 3D mode, which comprises: a rear surface light source; a first optical board having a periodic aperture; a lenticular lens; and a display panel which is arranged apart from the lenticular lens, and includes pixels. Light emitted from the rear surface light source passes through the aperture of the first optical board to arrive at the lenticular lens, and becomes a line source with a line width narrower than a pixel width of the display panel as passing through the lenticular lens. When the first optical board having the periodic aperture is a liquid crystal optical board, and if the liquid crystal optical board is turned off, the whole area is opened and the image display device operates in the 2D mode. And if the liquid crystal optical board is turned on, the periodic aperture is realized and the image display device operates in the 3D mode. |
